What’s In My Fridge

My favorite part of Cribs was always the refrigerator tour. I don’t know why I was always so intrigued by what was in Ja Rule’s fridge. (Was he on Cribs? If he wasn’t, he should have been.) Well + Good always has refrigerator look books of like vegan endurance athletes and people who own soup delivery companies (because New York) and I was inspired to give you a tour of my refrigerator, because I know you’re all so worried about what’s in my fridge.

Fun fact, I completely hated every photo I took the first round then re-shot everything.

Thinking about this, I should have done this when I was home so it would have looked nicer in my dad’s Sub Zero rather than whatever it is I have. But you know what – I have a nice, new kitchen with granite counter-tops and I live in a building built in the 1920s so I really shouldn’t be complaining.

The green bags have farmers’ market goodies.

I shot this on Sunday morning, pre-food prepping for the week (which really just consisted of washing berries and making fancy beans from Rancho Gordo and mixing them with some quinoa, olives and goat cheese). Saturday morning I was feeling ambitious so I went to the Ferry Building Farmers’ Market and went a little HAM.

These berries are so posed.

Before we go much further, I feel like I should explain why I live by myself and have four bottles of wine. All of these have been in here over a month – some closer to two months. The two dark bottles on top are a Chardonnay and Sancerre from my Scribe shipment last month. The rose (aka summer water) is left over from a trip to Scribe with my friend Chrissy in April.

Pro tip: invest in glassware for storage rather than gross plastic.

Here you spy some farm-fresh eggs, some containers of tofu, a protein chia pudding, cooked quinoa, a Moroccan Quinoa Salad, homemade pesto and washed berries (green lid container).

Protein drawer.

Do you have a meat and cheese drawer? We’ve always had them in my family. I have some wild-caught salmon I am going to cook on Monday, cheddar cheese from Cabot in case I need quick snacks for guests and goat cheese that was made two days ago. I love California.

Not proper storage techniques.

The green bags have veggies that wouldn’t fit in my over-flowing vegetable drawer. The bags in the back are figs, dates and bananas that I use for energy bites. In the left green bag is spinach, in the middle is kale and rhubarb and the middle is a clamshell of basil for tomato salads.

Crispers.

On the left I keep fruit (cut up lemons for hot lemon water in the container with the black lid, oranges, lemons, peaches, apples, kiwis and some ginger) and on the right are veggies. The paper bag has brussels and there is some sad looking mint, zucchinis and a couple lonely asparagus.

This is also basically called “I’m kind of over-prepared”.

Here we have all my condiments (tamari, like 5 kinds of mustard, unsweetened ketchup and minced garlic, shallots and ginger), two things of unsweetened almond milk (they were out of Califia Farms at Whole Foods, wtf?!), chocolate cashew milk (to curb my late-night sweet tooth), San Pellegrini (my affectionate name for San Pellegrino), coconut water for smoothies/protein shakes (I buy Harmless Harvest for drinking) and Naked Juice (I’m excited to share their newest juice with you next week!). Also some hemp seeds, flax meal, unsweetened coconut and um… another half-drank bottle of wine that was probably purchased in March/April.

Also not shown are like 5 containers of Fage because it’s basically more impossible to find in this city than the Fountain of Youth so I stock-up whenever I see it.

Wondering what’s in my freezer? Frozen fruit and salmon and chicken and a pint of So Delicious Cashew Ice Cream (Snickerdoodle). Also some macarons from Laudree in Paris that I am hiding from myself.

Chat with me:
What was your favorite part of Cribs? What’s in your fridge? Did anything in here surprise you?

I just liked how every rapper had Cristal and then like condiments and freezer pops, and the pop starlets had veggies and water bottles and then a few “cheat” things like 100 calorie packs. I totally miss cribs. It was such a good show. Like teh time Tommy Lee showed us that he had a Starbucks in his pool house (or whatever).

LOVE this Cassie, and YESSSS that was the best part of cribs, I think it is the part that shows they are human….or just how out of touch with reality they are if they have all prepared meals (or nothing) as their personal chef does everything. This was cool, and yours doesn’t look too different to mine. Thanks for sharing :)

“This is where the magic happens”… every. single. time. Haha. Without fail. My fridge always looks so full on Sunday, but come Friday night it’s like I have nothing left except for a cup of almond milk and condiments. It’s pretty incredible how much food I eat each week haha. Hope you have a great Monday!

I’m weirdly obsessed with seeing what’s in other people’s fridges. I always crack up at the condiment section, because I have roughly 1000x more condiments in my fridge than the average person.

This is great!! I thought I was the only one obsessed with the food in my frig! And like me, your purchase of veggies and produce exceeded the size of the drawers. Cool post1

I clean it out pretty regularly… I’m a neat freak so I clean my apartment top to bottom at least once a week, including wiping down the fridge!

Yaaas excellent cribs throw back. I love seeing people’s fridges beacuse I’m nosy especially when it comes to food bloggers’ food.
Also: “Well + Good always has refrigerator look books of like vegan endurance athletes and people who own soup delivery companies (because New York) ” cracked me up.
Also I’m excited to see what you do with that rhubarb!

After living in an apartment by myself last year, I would always think “dang, I keep a lot of food for one person..” Now I feel better, so thank you. :) Haha I, too, was always overprepared with some of the same items.. like 2 types of milk.. almond & cashew, why? I am one person.

Looking good in your fridge! It’s the same way in my fridge/cabinet/fruit basket when I first go food shopping… fruits & veggies overflowing everywhere! But then a couple of days later, I’m like, “Where did all of my food go??” :)
