Now Trending – Best Links Week of 3.23

Can we take a minute to talk about TV? I have to admit that my favorite TV guilty pleasure (after Catfish, of course) is My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding. I have three letters… WTF?! These crazy gypsies really don’t exist in the US, do they? I toyed with going to yoga tonight because my legs are a) getting too muscular b) my legs are super sore and c) I need to center myself but remembered WVU was playing in the Sweet Sixteen tonight. I thought I would really regret not watching if we won… womp womp.

I really haven’t been reading blogs the past few weeks but here are the best links I’ve found this week.

I’m thinking about a possible Mexico vacation soon (cue the “WE’RE GOING TO CABO” montage from Laguna Beach… p.s. I just spent like 5 minutes reading all the Laguna Beach recaps on Wikipedia) but here are Eight Affordable Beach Vacations.

If Anthony Bourdain says you should travel there… you should travel there. I wish I had made it to Laos when I was in Southeast Asia. Kyoto and Tokyo soon (hopefully!).

I think I linked to an earlier post by this girl when she moved to South Africa, but she talks about how NYC was making her a shitty person. I feel like I’ve become a shitty person and I’m working on fixing that, albeit not moving to Africa in the process.

I love living alone but I’ve also felt a little lonely lately… I need to take some of these tips for living alone without feeling lonely.

Worried about a zombie apocalypse? Researches at Cornell have found mapped out what that epidemic would look like. Hint: you’re dead if you’re in Scranton, PA or Bakersfield, CA.

Running and Fitness
I am super guilty of running junk miles… not so much this training cycle, but the last one for sure. Read why junk miles aren’t very beneficial.

Do you know the difference between brown and white eggs?

I’m like a million years away from my wedding (aka elopement) but I love the idea of making all your own wedding desserts… if you’re an expert baker like Molly Yeh, that is.

I’m hoping Erin makes me these bacon and brie waffle sandwiches when I’m home in May.

Chat with me:
Did you make an NCAA tournament bracket? What is your alma mater? What is your guilty TV pleasure?

We won’t talk about the brackets, for Alex’s sake. And go to San Jose del Cabo–way more affordable than Cabo, and way better without all the riff raff! I adore that place. My dad lives there half the year (Seasonal Affective Disorder. OR SO HE SAYS).
And you are not a shitty person. Trust me.

Haha thanks my love. I try not to be… but feel like I’m pulled in that direction sometime. I’m off to look up San Jose de Cabo!!!

I trust Anthony Bourdain’s travel opinion completely. Kyoto seems like an amazing place to visit. Those bacon waffle sandwiches look insane! I’m a little afraid to read the zombie article, but also very intrigued. Happy Friday!

Definitely agree… I always look to see where he visited in a city before I make any plans!

Interesting post on how NYC made her a ‘shitty’ person. I always feel like we like to humble brag about wherever we live, but it should just be a love for where you live instead of all-consuming.

I love this comment. I actually have a post brewing in my head about that. I love SF but I don’t think it’s all-consuming… and I’m working towards not letting it be that, either.

I want to travel to all of Anthony’s picks so badly! And you should definitely do a Mexican vacation! I had the best time in Puerto Vallarta!

Dude. LOL at WVU calling out Kentucky…. and then you know what happened! I mean I can’t say anything, my team didn’t make the tourney and we just fired out coach today (womp freakin’ womp) but geez… things couldn’t have gone worse for your team! Sorry yo! If you want to join the misery bandwagon with support from friends, check out Tennessee.

I mean…. I knew we were gonna lose but I didn’t think we would just get embarrassed in such a big way. Allegedly Kentucky could make the NBA playoffs.

It’s always nice to remember everyone else who lives alone feels the same… and it’s a choice and luxury to do so that many people wish they had!!!

Hi Cassie! Don’t be lonely! And DO consider a Cabo vacation. My husband and I went last year for the first time and stayed at an adults-only all-inclusive, which was basically like a spa. Incredible! I hope you make it to yoga. We’ve missed you around the blogging world, but I understand we always need a step back every once in a while.

That article bout that girl on how she thought ” NYC was making her a shitty person” – those were my sisters’ sentiments at one point. My sis lives in Dallas now!
And woa- those wedding cakes – phenomenal!

I’m wondering if SF is making me a shitty person. But my best friend lives in NYC and is def not shitty… I’m going to have to ask her her thoughts though!

Maybe I need some yoga too…I’ve never been a big fan, but one problem I can relate to is having larger thighs. Even though I workout regularly. I tried on some shorts today at Forever 21 and…the legs were NOT meant for girls who do squats. Ha! But seriously, maybe some yoga would do me some good. Also, just as much as I love Catfish, I can enjoy Great American Gypsy Wedding. No shame.

I know quite a few people that have made their own wedding deserts (or had help from family). It’s a way more realistic option for people considering wedding cakes cost SO. MUCH. MONEY. Also, thanks for getting back to my email – I’m so behind on emails/blog reading. I will get back to you as soon as I can!!!
