I’ve wanted to visit Dubai for a while but this travel diary from The Coveteur, including Shoe Village, a 70,000 sq foot shopping area for shoes, is giving me even more wanderlust.

Um, I can’t believe I didn’t share this sooner, but my obsession with the American West was intensified with Davida’s travel diary of Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons.

Can I just travel for a living? White + pops of color = love. I think Greece and I were made for each other.

I’ve been jealously watching my friend Lesley eat this Vietnamese Caramel Pork Stir Fry from How Sweet Eats all week.

Marinades are always so scary to me… Glamour has it simplified with their “No-Brainer Guide to Making Delicious Marinades“.

I have quinoa flakes that haven’t been opened yet (typical). I want to try this Quinoa Flakes with Stewed Blackberries and Basil.

I’ve been taking recovery seriously (and noticing I haven’t been gaining water weight, you’re welcome for that TMI) so I was really interested in this article on Marathon Recovery for Pre-Race, During, and Post-Race.

I’ve definitely said running is my therapy before… but sometimes it isn’t enough. Running definitely helps clear your mind, but it shouldn’t be your ONLY form of therapy if you’re not feeling like yourself.

On that note, I often say that I love long runs because I get to be by myself for hours on end. The Huffington Post had a great essay on The Oddity of the Long Distance Runner (a good read if you have one of us in your life!).

I was Skyping with my friend Jessi and simultaneously playing with the penguin statue that lives on my desk when she informed me they found the penguin version of me… a.k.a a blonde penguin! Isn’t she the sweetest? Except apparently she is more likely to be eaten.

Chat with me:
What is the animal version of you? If you could do anything for a living, what would it be?

I always love these posts Cassie. I like that they are more of a story than a list. It reminds me of when I was a kid and would sometimes try to write people notes by drawing pictures for as many of the words as possible. Did you ever do that?

Oh, and the white penguin…..I remember watching Frozen Planet, have you seen that? In the DVD extras, they showed how there was a white penguin in one of the groups (whatever a group of penguins were called), that was very rare, but seemed to love the limelight, and every time they filmed, this one penguin would work its way into the shot. It was really funny to watch. I will have to see if I can find it for you…if you want? :)

People tell me I’m like a cat and I’m not sure how I feel about that so if IIIIII could pick I’d be a dolphin. Who doesn’t love dolphins?

So you know how I was having knee issues yesterday and doing some research, etc. Well I watched this 10 min video from Runner’s World and the featured doc said “running is the best medicine” at least 6 times. It’s so true… which made me think of that during the running is therapy link there.
The animal version of me is without a doubt a dolphin. Eeee Eeee (dolphin sound)

I was just saying the same thing…if I could run, travel, write, and read for a living I’d be a happy girl. Now how do I make that happen?

I like the article about running as not the only form of therapy. I think if I could do anything, I would publish cookbooks with foods from foreign countries (which, duh, I’d have to travel there to do my research!) and make them easy and simple for Americans to recreate. I also want to have a PhD and do research. Can I have it all? :)

I think I would be a less glamorous animal than I would like to be… considering I am 5’1 and would like to be a giraffe. Case closed.

I found out that my college roommate (almost 10 years ago – whoa!) explained me to guys as a porcupine – “she acts all bristly, but there’s a soft spot underneath.” I didn’t know if I should be horrified or touched she was so insightful.

Fortunately, I’m doing the job of my dreams by working with college and grad students on their writing and applications. But I had to get through several degree programs and less delightful jobs to reach this place!

Hey Cassie. Just found your blog and absolutely LOVE it. Always a pleasure to meet a fellow distance runner. Thanks for the mention and looking forward to reading in the future.

Also, animal version of me? Hands down a fox. (Favourite animal EVER!)

1. no clue what my animal is. cfbf says squirrel. i’ve been eating almond butter out of the jar for 10 minutes. maybe.

2. my dream job is to do what guy fieri does. i could TOTALLY host a show where i travel all over the place to cook and eat amazing food.

3. oddity of the long distance runner is BS. i am always on time. and really social. i’ve made friends on every training run and during marathons. not buying it, huff post.

I love that you called it a travel diary…makes me seem way cooler lol! In other news I hung out with the coveteur’s founder’s brother yesterday. Big things started floating through my head about how I could somehow connect THM with his sister…then I realized that made me an awful person and insisted I buy the bottle of wine. He thought I was so generous while I was just internally compensating for the guilt I felt about hypothetically using him lol.
