Now Trending – Best Links Week of 11.17

Procrastination has hit me hard this week. I’ve been writing every post super late night. I have a mounting to-do list. My living room (can you even call it that if it’s a studio?) is still just piles of clothes and boxes because I haven’t bought a dresser yet so they have no home. Someone come get my life together for me please.

I had a strangely hard time finding the best links of the week. Since I’m all about quality over quantity, I hope you guys like these ones as much as I do.

Travel
The 15 Top Destinations of 2015 including Oman, the Philippines, Serbia and… Morocco! (Jaimie/Jessi, are you reading this?)

I want to go to the world’s least visited countries. Especially because I live in a city overrun by tourists on Segways.

Lifestyle
Decorating a studio from scratch isn’t as stress-free or economical as I thought it would be. I’m loving these tips on having an adult apartment on a budget.

My dad has a great theory called “if you make more money than it costs to pay someone to do, pay someone to do it”. Is it worth it to try and DIY something for 10 hours that would cost $100 to buy? No, unless you make $10 an hour. This Google Chrome extension puts prices into how much of your time it is worth.

I have a solid five to six figures worth of American Girl Dolls at my dad’s house.

Fitness
I have been lacking on fitness motivation lately. Blame it on not having a race to train for, moving across the country and general burnout, but I need to get back on the wagon. Emily had a great post on where she finds her inspiration and motivation.

Working out and not seeing results? Yeah, me too. Deryn from Running on Real Food has great tips on seeing results from your workouts.

Food
I honestly have a nut butter problem. I’m two or three spoonfuls away from having a Bravo show about my life in nut butter rehab. This guide to nut butters really didn’t help anything.

I think I had one bad experience with tahini and thought I didn’t like it. Then I bought a jar to make Marisa’s Fall Harvest Salad. Now I can’t get enough. Here are 14 Reasons to Love Tahini.

A really novel thing for me is the fact that I can buy alcohol at the grocery store. Not that I couldn’t do that in West Virginia, but the alcohol laws in Pennsylvania are Draconian. Anyway, Lesley reminded me I could buy wine at Trader Joe’s. I would never drink Two Buck Chuck because that stuff has like, rat pieces in it, but I will drink these 7 Wines at Trader Joe’s for Thanksgiving Dinner.

This harissa is very timely as I had delicious harissa at a Moroccan place over the weekend and now I can’t stop thinking about it.

I’ve been thinking about this sweet potato pizza from Erin all week.

Chat with me:
What food can you not be trusted around? Will you drink Two Buck Chuck? Where do you hope to travel in 2015? What other awesome things did I miss this week? (Leave me a link in the comments!)

I honestly can’t think about food right now (still off my appetite), so I am going to concentrate on the other links–I think that the comment on the DIY aspect is way smart (see? I really am still recovering, that doesn’t even make sense to me). But right now my brain would hurt for me to figure out the conversion rates, haha.

Yeahhh I didn’t use it to think of anything because I’m not that smart but it makes my brain hurt too. Hope you’re feeling better, lovely!

I’m so glad you posted the link about uses for tahini. I have a jar that is practically full. I bought it to make hummus and have only done that a few times. That salad looks delicious so I just printed off the recipe. The pizza looks great too! Both have sweet potato which is one of my favorite things. I got so burnt out on it, and had to take a break from it. Roasted a 1/2 one last night and refound my love for it. I will probably turn orange soon. And you’re not the only one who has a problem with nut butters. Maybe we should both check in soon. Hey, at least we know we are getting plenty of healthy fat, right?! Love the post on motivation. I especially need it around this time of year when it is super cold and I don’t want to run outdoors (or even go anywhere.. let’s be honest). I ran 7 miles yesterday in 30 degree temps and I was pretty dang proud of myself. Hopefully I can keep it up, but you know how WV weather is in the winter.. so we will see (to be continued..). Awesome links Cass! :)

Hope you get some of the Lulu Christmas list items I suggested to get that motivation up!

I totally drink 2 buck chuck, but I also have super cheap alcohol tastes.

Wow that American Girl doll article is giving me serious flashbacks. I saved everything for if I hopefully have a little girl some day. I did sell all the books though for a pretty penny on eBay when I was in college.

WHAT?! Rat pieces? (**Cue to me: Barfing!) WHAT?!

And ain’t no shame in nut butter addiction. In fact, I eat a minimum of 1 TABLEspoon of Nuttzo daily!

I mean… I probably eat at least 2. I estimate possibly a quarter cup a day. Which means I need to slow my roll haha.

I have never heard of Tahini! I cannot be trusted around desserts at all. I want to go to London in 2015, I have not been in a long time and I long to go.

It’s basically sesame seed butter :)

Chips…that damn crunch! I want them all the time, even at breakfast! Well chips and fries, I should really add fries to that list. I’m not above drinking two buck chuck if that’s what is offered, but you will never see it in my cart at TJ’s! I’m not a wine snob at all, but I refuse to buy that stuff! I would love to go somewhere new and tropical, but I think I’m saving for Europe in 2016! Hope you get a little more settled this weekend, but I can sympathize with how you’re feeling…I moved about two weeks ago! Have an amazing weekend girlie! xoxo, ganeeban

Hahaha like most HLBloggers, I don’t understand the concept of portion control around nut butters. Especially when it’s paired with dates!

Um, also… wine & tequila

And ice cream, pizza, hummus, guac. Anything ,really

Not gonna lie…I most definitely apartment-scavenged every last stick of furniture in my apartment. :x My “desk” is actually two ginormous plastic storage bins stacked on top of each other, and I slept on a mattress on the floor for my first two months here until my neighbor happened to be moving out and needed to get rid of his bed (and futon, and coffee table, and chairs). I’m proud to say that I no whave furniture! :P

I like to think having a nut butter problem isn’t anywhere near as bad as other things you could be addicted to? :D?

I CANNOT be responsible for what happens to the ice cream supply if my husband should bring a carton home.

For 2015 we will be moving to another post (husband in Army) but we have yet to know where. I have my preference for somewhere warm and not rainy. I’ve enjoyed the Pacific NW for the past 3 years but would like some reliable sunshine for the next 3, thank you very much.

My mom has the same philosophy and passed it down to me. It’s the reason most of my friends thing I’m high maintenance when it comes to buying new things verses mending or DIY-ing. Ah well.
Also, in Trinidad we could buy alcohol in convenience stores and random shops on the corner. Moving to Canada sucked in the beginning…
