Now Trending – Best Links Week of 1.19

This post almost didn’t get written… again. I am fighting sleep before 10:30 on a Thursday finishing this up. I wish I had more to say, but here are the best links from this week.

Travel
Wanderlust has hit me hard this week. Freaking out over these Iceland photos. That trip needs to happen sooner than later.

To further fuel my wanderlust, here are places you should travel to in 2015. Kayaking the Croatian coast, anyone?

Europe hotels can often be huge rip-offs… a 2 star hotel for the price of a 4 star hotel in the US. Here are 7 cities in Europe where you can stay in luxury hotels for less.

Lifestyle
Here are things we should stop talking about in 2015, aka how not to be basic. Funnily enough, in SoulCycle on Monday the instructor told us to push it and “we weren’t going to bulk up”. I laughed.

So, I missed the memo on Uber drivers rating the riders! Yeah, this girl is kind of entitled, but still… I am now rethinking how long I may accidentally make them wait sometimes.

Happiness is a choice. Sometimes it is difficult to get to that place – it’s a lot of work and conscious decisions – but here are five tips to be happier this year.

This graphic of how creative types spend their days is so interesting to me.

Stop being self-conscious at work! It could be holding you back.

Food
I try making my own bars whenever possible. Did you have any idea that so many popular snack bars were so full of junk? *cough Quest Bars cough* Robyn from The Real Life RD has a great breakdown of good and bad bar options.

These beet crepes with apple filling from Running Sri Lankan look absolutely amazing. Need to roast beets today to make these for Saturday post-long run.

These Dark Chocolate Dipped Crunchy Coconut Cashew Sesame Bars look beyond insane.

I think I keep passing Korea Town when I’m driving through Richmond back from Ocean Beach. Until I figure it out and stop, I’m going to make Erin’s Bibimbap to hold me over.

The only fun piece of news I have is that I am running the Kaiser Permanente Half-Marathon on February 2nd. Any other Bay Area runners care to join me?

Chat with me:
What is the most interesting post you read this week? Are you a snack bar eater? Where do you want to travel this year?

I’m guilty of consuming a few snack bars a week. They are just so easy to buy and munch on, even though the ingredients are questionable. Hey, we can’t be perfect, right? :) Have a great weekend, Cassie!

I love Picky Bars as a snack bar alternative as well :)

Um… beet crepes? BE STILL MY HEART. And that breakdown of the creatives’ days is super interesting. Dickens as the most active (but also known for being an a$$). Loved the article on bars–that is why I am so picky about them. If I could say the same thing about the rest of the things I eat, that would be great!

I thought it was interesting how un-active they were for the most part. And Harauki Maurkami is a runner but they didn’t have that in there!

I love link-ups! So fun to catch up on stories I missed throughout the week. PS- we went to Iceland this summer and it was INCREDIBLE! A total bucket-list must.

I’m only a snack bar eater when I make them myself… mostly because it’s almost impossible to find store-bought bars that don’t contain traces of peanuts. So it makes my allergy-ridden heart secretly happy to hear that most of them are crap anyways ;)

Love snack bars but money makes me make my own! Go to Europe in their dead of Winter- hotels were even cheaper than hostels, if you book an hour beforehand lol!

Great link up. I’m guilty of loving snack bars for on the go. Also I LOVE that travel list and was looking up flights to places like Iceland even though I have zero money haha.

I love the article about the snack bars! Good to know that Quest bars are full of junk– they seem to be all the rage right now but I haven’t tried them yet. I love the apple pie Larabars, and I’m happy to see that they made the cut :) I love that they only have a few ingredients! But I’m a little sad to see Clif Bars on the list…

Love the bar post! So many people love quest bars when they are really full of junk.. scary! I always keep a bar in my purse/backpack just in case something comes up and I need food.. no one likes to be hangry. Kind, larabars, and picky bars are my go to!
